James Seiler, father of seven alumni of Sacred Heart/Kansas Newman College and grandfather of two current students, died January 24, 2007.    Wife Julietta and children '72 Mary Jirak, '81 Becky Seiler Dugan, '81 Daniel Seiler, '83 Donna Seiler Quaney, '88 Judy Seiler and '88 Jane Seiler Gorges survive.  Grandchildren Lisa Quaney and Danielle Seiler are current students.  James was preceded in death by son '76 Tom Seiler. 

'77 Linda (Bergkamp) Snook has been appointed to the Newman University Board of Trustees.

'83 J.V. and '83 Veronica (Armendariz) celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary May 29, 2007.

'74 Sylvia (Kerivan) Eckberg, wife of '74 tim Eckberg, died on April 26, 2007.

'95 Shelly Klaus Steadman is a member of the Wichita Business Journal 2007 Class of 40 under 40.  The annual event recognizes 40 professionals under the age of 40 who are considered to be "rising leaders in the Wichita business community."  Steadman was honored for her investigative work for the Sedgwick County Coroner's Office, where she works in the forensics lab.

' 80 Lauren (Anderson) and '80 Dan Bopp celebrated their 25th Wedding anniversary Jan. 2, 2007.  Lauren also earned a master of divinity degree from Creighton University May 12, 2007.  She serves in ministry for the Archdicoese of Omaha.

'84 Mary Pat (Grelinger) Jones, a four-year breast cancer survivor, is chair of the Legislative Committee for the Kansas Medical Society Alliance.  She has testified on behalf of Bill 189, which seeks to promote Breast Cancer Awareness through production of a specialized Kansas license plate.  To order your, visit http://kmcri.kumc.edu/driventocure.html .

'98 Adam Hunter is head coach of the Butler Community College women's soccer team.  Hunter previously served as head coach for the boys' and girls' teams at Dodge City High School and at Dodge City Community  College.

Tina Walterscheid '88, a communications major, is a new brand manager for Sullivan Higdon & Sink.  She was recently featured in the Wichita Business Journal.  Some of her favorite places to eat in Wichita include, DeFazio's, Connie's, Uptown Bistro, Saigon and The Anchor.

Mother of alumni Leo Trolloppe, Mary Wohletz-Trollope, died 2/14/08. Our condolences to the family.

Connie Claire Arnold '84 died Dec. 12, 2007.  She was a proud graduate of the Newman University first Bachelor of Science decree in Nursing.  After graduation she worked for several years as a critical care nurse at Wesley Medical Center.  For 22 years  prior, she worked in a western Kansas hospital with a nursing diploma.  Connie was an active community volunteer and a member of the Sweet Adelines.  Our sympathy to her family and friends.

Mark Potter has been inducted into the Cowley College Hall of Fame.

Virgil Kroupa, 90, father of Kathy Kroupa, died on March 9, 2008.   Sending our sympathy to Kathy and the Kroupa family.

Alumni update finds Patrick and wife, Carolina Henderson living in Kansas City, MO.  Patrick currently works for Crittenton Children's Center in Kansas City.

Dan and Maria Seiler own and operate the Gambino's Pizza Parlor in Colwich, KS.  They are celebrating 25 years of ownership and have the oldest Gambino's Restaurant in Kansas.  Congratulations Dan and Maria!

Donald Bergkamp of St. Joseph, Ost died January 9, 2008.  He is the father of alums Karen Bergkamp, Donna Bergkamp, and Michelle Becker.  Our sympathies to the Bergkamp family.

Congratulations to John Roberts who married Sara Kountz on August 25, 2007.  Sara is a clinical team lead at Quintiles and John is a dentist at Roberts Family Dentistry.  The couple honeymooned in Kona, Hawaii and reside in Wichita.

'80 Roaslyn (Bartel) Miller died on Feb. 12, 2007.

'95 Richard Sutter father of '04 Laura Sutter  and '99, '02 Michael Quick died on Feb. 1, 2007.  Sutter earned his bachelor's degree at the age of 70.  Daughter Laura reports that her father planned ahead for everything he could.  Ten years ago, shortly after suffering a heart attack, Sutter had his professional photography taken, and ordered just one print.  The photographer pressured him to order more, ceasing his sales pitch only upon learning Sutter's motivation.   He intended it for use at his funeral.

Jacqueline L. Redmond, 71 died March 16, 2008.  She was the sister of alum Jimmie Redmond.  Our sympathies to her son, daughter, brother and sisters.

Jerry Gleeson, brother-in-law of Ellen Gleeson, died Feb. 11, 2008.  He was proud of his six children and their Irish heritage.  Our sympathy to Ellen and the family.
