'04 Mary Washburn married Nathan Blasi Feb. 3, 2007.  Mary is a representative for Forest Pharmaceuticals, Wichita.

Brian Weber elected to Medical Center Board of Trustees

Our congratulations on the recent marriage of Thomas Payne, Jr. and Mary (McClure) Payne.  They were married on November 3, 2007 at St. James Catholic Church in Augusta and now reside in Douglass, Kansas.

Brenda Krehbiel, daughter of Marion and Alice Krehbiel of Pretty Prairie, was soprano soloist in the Berne, Indiana Mennonite Choral Society presentation of Handel's "Messiah", December 1st and 2nd.  Brenda has served as soloist for the Bethel College May concert, the Newton Chorale, and the Wichita Chamber Chorale.  She has performed with the Robert Shaw Carnegie Hall Choral Workshop and the Robert Shaw Choral Institute.  Brenda was also a featured performer during Newman University's advent services in St. John Chapel on Campus.  Brenda now resides in North Newton.  Congratulations Brenda on your success!

Joseph McGill is married to Jessica Bachman and have two daughters, Lily Anne and Sydney Rose.  The currently reside in Moundridge, KS.

Pete and Nikki Sevart announce the birth of their daughter, Claire Rachel Sevart on 3/12/08.  The Sevarts also have a 4 year old son, Paul, and currently reside in Haysville, KS.

Laura Litzenberger, a graduate of Newman University's master's degree program in Social work, married Seth Patrick on June 7, 2007.  The couple reside in Garden City, KS.

Lawrence Ferguson is now a resident of Newton, Kansas and is a General Manager with Northwest Restaurants.  Congratulations Lawrence!

Congratulations to Newman graduate, Stephanie Stovall, who was named as Principal of the new Gordon Parks Academy.  The school will open with the intention of becoming an International Baccalureate school, though is hasn't been accredited for that curriculum yet.  "This is the best time in my life, and I'm honored to be opening Gordon Parks Academy," said Stephanie. 

Paul Holding '05  former Jet Basketball star was the lucky winner of the $50 cash prize drawing during alumni night at the game.

Our congratulations to Virgil Crady, who after 32 years, graduated from Newman University!  He is currently a substitute teacher in the Derby, Haysville, and Rose Hill school systems.  Virgil and wife, Susan live in Wichita.

Francis Baalmann married Rebecca (Sevart) on August 4, 2007.  Francis recently passed the Kansas Bar Exam; he and Rebecca have moved back to the Wichita area from Topeka and he is now working for Foulston, Siefkin, LLP.

'06 Megan Dunaway and '05 Paul Holding married June 23, 2007.  Megan teaches 5th grade at Magdalen Catholic School.  Paul is a tax analyst at CC Tax and Accounting, both in Wichita.

'00 George M. Anthony is a part-time GED instructor for KANSEL and a quality systems specialist, program quality administrator with the Bombers Integrated Defense Systems unit at Boeing, Wichita.

'04 Erik Hatten has been named CEO of Georgetown Village, a Wichita retirement center with a 130-bed independent unit and an 80-bed assisted living unit.  Hatten's work there was profiled in the Aug.30, 2007 edition of the Wichita Eagle.

Paul Holding '05,  former Jet Basketball star, was the lucky winner of a $50 cash prize sponsored by the Alumni Assocation at the Jets' first home conference game of the 07-08 season.

Michael F. Thimesch, 29, computer technician died April 1, 2008.  He was the husband of alum Jenni Thimesch.  Jenni is an '04 nursing graduate and a current CRNA student.  Other survivors include his parents, brother, sister, and grandparents.  Sending our sympathies to the family.

Pat Edwards, Director of Surgical Services for Wesley Medical Center, was quoted in a Wichita Eagle article April 24, 08. Edwards, an '03 graduate of Newman's MBA program, assisted in coordinating an eye surgery for 9 year old Jose Bustamante from Nicaragua.  Without the additional health care, Jose would have likely lost vision in both eyes.  "This is the right thing to do.  That's the bottom line," said Pat Edwards.
