Newman University established the Math Center to provide students with the opportunity to improve their mathematics skills and to be successful in mathematics courses or other courses involving the use of mathematics. The Math Center provides the following free services for specified mathematics courses.
Individual tutoringA tutor will be available for walk-ins during operating hours to help with homework, review concepts, help with study skills and answer questions about math courses. A student needing more structure and consistency may schedule regular appointments.
Study sessionsSmall groups may request time with a tutor for special topics in regular courses or on a regular basis as a supplement to selected courses. Informal study groups are welcome to use the Math Center as a meeting place.
WorkshopsFaculty or students may request a workshop on such topics as “how to survive a college math class” and “using your TI-83 calculator.”
Independent StudyThe Math Center coordinates and monitors the independent study of Essentials of Arithmetic and the Essentials of Pre-Algebra classes. |
