Service Learning
We make Service Learning part of your experience at Newman by incorporating it into our culture and curriculum. We also offer specific service programs including the ASC Community Learders Programs, which give students opportunities for outstanding academic and service experiences. Students can also design their own service projects to help the community. In recent Service Learning projects, Newman students have:
  • Built houses for Habitat for Humanity
  • Service Learning at NU
  • Collected necessities for a women's crisis center at Christmas
  • Answered telephones at the Kansas Children's Service League Parent Crisis Helpline
  • Made deliveries for Meals on Wheels
  • Helped at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
  • Coached softball and soccer for children
  • Distributed Thanksgiving dinners at United Methodist Urban Ministries
  • Volunteered at The Lord's Diner, a Wichita food service for those in need
