Student Referrals |
If you have a student who is experiencing writing problems, you can refer him or her to the Writing Center. The referral form will let us know your concerns. |
Session Summaries |
With your students’ consent, we can send a summary of each coaching session to you. This can help keep you informed on how often your student is attending the Writing Center, and what kind of things he/she is working on. |
Writing Center Orientations |
The Writing Center staff will gladly come to your class and give a brief introduction to the Writing Center and its services. Alternately, you may wish to bring your students to the Writing Center for this orientation so they can become familiar with its location. To schedule an orientation, contact us. |
Workshops |
The Writing Center staff can offer small-group workshops for students or faculty who have a common writing concern. Examples include responding to others writing, creating an effective thesis statement or editing and proofreading techniques. These workshops can be offered in your classroom or in the Writing Center. Workshops for teachers might include identifying and preventing plagiarism, evaluating writing assignments and more. Let us know what your needs are – we can develop a workshop on almost any topic! To find out more about workshops, contact us. |
Personalized Coaching Sessions |
A writing coach will spend 30 minutes up to three times per week working on your project and focusing on your concerns. We can help you come up with a topic, get started writing, improve your rough draft or learn how to proofread. Walk in during our coaching hours or contact us. |
Reference Library |
Style guides (MLA, APA, Turabian, and CBE), grammar and style handbooks, dictionaries, thesauri and more are available for use in the Writing Center. |
Handouts |
Our teacher handouts cover issues in assigning and teaching writing. Our handouts for writers provide quick answers to common writing questions. |
