Newman University Mission:

Newman University is a Catholic university named for John Henry Cardinal Newman and founded by the Adorers of the Blood of Christ for the purpose of empowering graduates to transform society.

Newman University is a Catholic, liberal arts university sponsored by the Adorers of the Blood of Christ. The university is named after Church leader and educator, John Henry Cardinal Newman, and its primary focus is educating for life. Newman University provides for students the knowledge and skill to succeed personally and professionally, and nurtures an ethical and moral standard rooted in Judeo-Christian principles, by which they can set goals, make decisions and establish relationships. Newman University isNewman University committed to the belief that the spiritual nature of all persons can and should influence all aspects of life and, therefore, is an important factor in the improvement of our technological society.

The University, through its curriculum and supporting environment, challenges its students to become liberally educated persons who will:

  • Respect the dignity of every person.
  • Desire a higher education imbued with the values of Catholic tradition and the mission of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, namely, that of developing and empowering people.
  • Develop their whole person by following Cardinal Newman who teaches that the development of the intellect and spirit along with the practical arts is intrinsic to the fulfillment of the human potential.
  • Become thinking persons for tomorrow's world by seeking
    • degree programs in the liberal arts and selected professional career areas
    • courses and programs for career enhancement and professional development
    • educational experiences for personal enrichment
  • Consider with special regard the persons who are disadvantaged.
  • Attain an interdependent global perspective formed by a critical consciousness that hungers and thirst for justice and peace.
