Founded: 1933.
Location: Main campus in Wichita, Kan. Outreach sites in eastern and western Kansas, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Tulsa and Oklahoma City, Okla.
Affiliation: Newman is a sponsored ministry of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, United States Region, whose congregation was founded in Italy in 1834 by St. Maria De Mattias, an outstanding educator.

Enrollment: Over 2,100 from across the United States and around the world.
Accreditation: Accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission, a commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Cost: 2008–09 Academic Year: Annual tuition $18,574; Annual room and board $6,500.
Financial Aid and Scholarships: 98 percent of incoming freshmen in 2007 received financial aid. Financial Aid officers will work with you to explore all financial resources available, including grants, scholarships, student loans and work-study programs.
Academic Programs: Newman offers more than 40 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
Faculty: The student-faculty ratio is 14:1. Average class size is 14-20. Faculty members are recognized as leaders in published scholarship, visual arts and scientific research.
Athletics: Newman University is a member of the NCAA Division II. Newman is the only private university in the state of Kansas that is a member of the NCAA. The university fields NCAA intercollegiate teams in both men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, golf, soccer and tennis, as well as baseball, softball and women’s volleyball. Newman also offers men’s wrestling, which competes as an NCAA independent. The university also offers men’s and women’s bowling teams, which compete in national intercollegiate conferences.
Clubs and Activities: More than 30 campus clubs and organizations provide student leadership opportunities and service learning activities.
Study Abroad: Newman provides study abroad programs in England, the Netherlands, Ireland, Italy, Spain, and Latin America.
Volunteer/Service Work: Newman students contribute more than 15,000 hours of volunteer service work each year. |
