Deanne Zogleman, Director of Music at Newman University, has gained recognition as a music educator and professional choreographer throughout the Midwest. Each year, Zogleman serves as a clinician, adjudicator and director for music festivals, various workshops and show choir competitions all over the United States. In addition to those duties, Zogleman enjoys designing competition show choir shows for several high schools and has won several awards in this category. As an award winning choreographer, Zogleman choreographs for area colleges, several high school show choirs in the Midwest and professional and high school theater productions. At Newman University, she coordinates the music program and personally conducts the select choir, the Troubadours, and the Newman Chorale. In the fall of 2007, the Newman University Troubadours have been invited and will be singing in the world famous Carnegie Hall.

For years Ben Juhnke has worked in the Wichita theatre community, after graduating from Wichita State University with a degree in Technical Theatre Design. You might recognize Ben from his nine years with Music Theatre of Wichita or from his work with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra. In the community Ben has designed for Wichita Community Theatre, Friends University, Southwestern College, Wichita State University, Wichita Center for the Arts and Stage One Productions. Ben is also a member of I.A.T.S.E. Local 190, working on major touring productions for every type of performance from Cirque Du Soleil to Tim McGraw.

Cheryl Golden teaches ancient history and world history at Newman University. Her research interests include Rome, Greece, political and legal history of Rome and Alexander the Great studies. Golden earned a Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill studying the role of poisons in Roman society, and a Masters at the University of Houston, studying the aftermath of the conquests of Alexander the Great. In addition to the classroom and the library, you can sometimes find Golden leading students to study in England, Italy and on the Great Plains of the U.S. Golden also serves as the current Director for International Studies.

Kelly McFall is Associate Professor of History teaches Modern European and World History classes. He received his doctorate from Ohio State University in 1998 and joined Newman in the summer of 2005. His professional interests lie in the history of nationalism, the experience of warfare, and comparative genocides (despite the ways this sounds, he's really not a depressing guy!). He brings these interests to his classroom by teaching classes such as the History of Nationalism, World War Two, East Asia and The Holocaust, as well as taking students to Europe and directing the Honors Program. In his spare time, when he is not rooting for the Ohio State football team or the Cleveland Indians, you can usually find him running on one of the side streets of Wichita or taking his daughters to see the penguins, rhinos and gorillas at the Zoo.

An Alumnus of The New England Conservatory of Music, David Baxter also attended Cleveland Institute of Music and The Catholic University of America. He has been an active performer for many years in Boston, performing regularly as a soloist and chamber musician for hundreds of Broadway musical productions. Baxter was the principal trumpet of two major symphony orchestras in Mexico City recording numerous works for national television broadcast and for the EMI/Angel label. As a dedicated and insightful teacher, Baxter has held posts at the All Newton School of Music and at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. He has also served as the Assistant Director of the Boston All-City Band.

After obtaining a B.A. from Brandeis University, Baxter completed her Master's of Education from Lesley University. She has taught strings to students ages three through 90 for over 10 years. In addition, Baxter is a talented performer in a variety of mediums, including Irish fiddling, bluegrass, rock, country and classical strings. Her performing experience includes Broadway shows in Boston, chamber music in Switzerland, and she has served as the Principal violist of the Hingham Symphony. Additionally, she has written a book of original songs for violin. Most recently, she was featured on local Wichita drummer Sean Borst’s CD, Rhythm vs. Melody.

After completing his undergraduate degree at Sacred Heart College and Wichita State University (WSU), Oliver completed his master’s degree in music education at WSU. Oliver has taught privately for several music stores in the area and opened his own retail music store which specializes in band instrument sales, rentals and lessons. As an active member of the Wichita Classical Guitar Society, Oliver sponsored a visa for a Paraguayan classical guitarist, Sila Godoy, as well as managing his concert tour and schedule.

In addition to piano and organ instruction here at Newman University, Pracht accompanies both the Newman University Chorale and Troubadours and serves as assistant to Deanne Zogleman, director of Music. After earning her degree from Sacred Heart College, Pracht has taught keyboard music for many years in the Wichita area. She is a talented, sought after performer and has served as an organist, choral and instrumental accompanist and chamber music performer in the performance realm. Committed to excellence in church and sacred music, Pracht serves as organist for St. Mary’s Cathedral of the Wichita Diocese. She has also served on the boards of professional music teaching organizations and the American Guild of Organists.

A graduate of Wichita State University and the University of Akron, Thompson has performed with the Lieurance Woodwind Quintet, the Wichita Symphony, Opera Kansas, the Robert Page Singers and with Dr. John Leavitt at Carnegie Hall. She is the oboe soloist on many of Dr. Leavitt's recordings. Her primary teachers are Peggy Michel, Linda Strommen and James Ryon. As well as teaching applied woodwinds here at Newman, Thompson serves as the oboe instructor at Washburn University and teaches privately and is a freelance performer in the Wichita area.

Professor Findling earned his masters and Ph.D. degrees from Villanova University, and has taught at Newman since 2003. He has published articles and a translation in the areas of Ancient philosophy and contemporary Continental philosophy, with a special emphasis on Hans Georg Gadamer and philosophical hermeneutics. Findling is a co-founder of the North American Society for Philosophical Hermeneutics (NASPH). He teaches a variety of courses including Vital Issues of Philosophy, Ethics, History of Ancient Philosophy, Aesthetics, Philosophy of Film, and Philosophy of the Human Person.

Professor Fox received his masters and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Memphis. Since arriving at Newman in 2004, he has published articles and translations in areas related to contemporary Continental philosophy, Hegel, globalization, and the philosophy of religion. He is the 2006-07 recipient of the Newman University Teaching Excellence Award. In addition to Vital Issue of Philosophy and Ethics, Fox also teaches God and Cosmos, Social and Political Philosophy, History of Modern Philosophy, and Existentialism.
