“Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you a reason for your hope.”(1 Ptr. 3:15) The study of theology at Newman University strives to respond to this biblical injunction to always be ready to explain the reasons for our faith in Jesus Chri st and to give reasons for our love of His Catholic Church. The rich resources of the Catholic theological tradition are brought to bear on the many pressing questions of our day equipping the student to respond in charity and with confidence when asked questions about Roman Catholic beliefs and practices.
A degree in theology from Newman prepares the graduate to teach religion in the Catholic school system in the Wichita diocese, but more broadly, enables and enriches the student through the consideration of contemporary issues in the light of both faith and reason.
