A degree in counseling prepares you to assist in the lives of people having difficult times and make a difference that can help them regain their promise. It specifically prepares you for a career in the delivery of human services to adults, children and adolescents in need.
There is a dual emphasis in the counseling curriculum for extensive theoretical study as well as practical training. Each student is also provided with specialized concentrations in addiction and criminal justice studies with a new concentration in working with children and adolescents for the fall of ‘07. All aspects in the counseling process are explored and the student utilizes these skills in progressively responsible internship settings. The Newman baccalaureate degree in counseling provides the skills and opportunities necessary to enter the profession of counseling along with the supervision of the faculty for the students as they assume the responsibilities of the position. |
