A Brief History of the Newman University Paralegal Studies ProgramFor approximately 25 years, a legal assistant program was located at Wichita State University (WSU). Due to budgetary reasons, the program was discontinued at WSU. The program transferred to Newman University and bega n educating paralegal students in the fall 2004. From 1979 until its departure, the WSU program was approved by the American Bar Association (ABA). Since transfer of ABA approval is not permitted when a program moves, the Newman Paralegal Studies Program is seeking separate ABA approval. It is anticipated that the program will be approved by fall semester, 2006. |
