Upon graduation a marketing career can take many paths. Many marketing majors find entry-level jobs in the areas of banking and financial services, retail, advertising agencies, health care, government agencies, service industries, not-for-profit organizations and entrepreneurial ventures. Marketers entering the workforce have the opportunity to affect the business culture by assisting organizations in becoming more ethical and socially responsible. Careers in marketing can be lucrative, exciting, dynamic and very fulfilling.

In the 21st century’s global economy, marketing is becoming a critical element for success and an ever-expanding field of opportunity. Careers include:

Many factors go into the beginning salary of a new graduate. Among these are work history (including co-ops and internships), geographical preferences, academic record, cocurricular activities, maturity, work ethic and personality. However, most marketing majors can expect a starting salary in the range of $20,000 to $40,000.

Graduate School

Many marketing majors go on to graduate school. For most that means either an M.B.A. or law school, although some continue on for a doctorate and a career in education. As with all degrees in business, the opportunities for a marketing major are limited only by the student’s energy, determination, learned skills, imagination and ambition.
