Financial Aid Programs Available for School of Education Graduate Students
Student LoanGraduate students who are taking 6 or more semester hours are eligible for a student loan. Kansas Teacher Education Scholarship ProgramThis scholarship program was funded by the Kansas Legislature in 2006 and may be appropriate for the needs of many NU School of Education Graduate Program students. Detailed information and an application for are available on the Kansas Board of Regents Web site. To find this information:
- Enter the Kansas Board of Regents Web site (www.kansasregents.org)
- Use the “student financial aid” link
- Under “Scholarships and Grants”, look for “state funded graduate programs”
- Within this list, the “Kansas Teacher Education Scholarship Program” is located.
The Kansas Teacher Education Scholarship Program cannot be used for summer courses at this time.
McNeill GrantThe McNeill Grant provides a tuition discount of 25% for individuals who are full-time teachers in Catholic Schools. McNeill Grant application information can be obtained by calling Juanita Alarcon at 316-942-4291, ext 2204.
KSDE Reimbursement Guidelines for Teachers seeking ESOL EndorsementTeachers can obtain the reimbursement by completing the application for reimbursement, located at www.ksde.org/sfp/esol/reimburseform.doc and returning it to the KSDE with documentation of completion of the course (grade transcript).
- Reimbursement is given only after course completion.
- Reimbursement is given only for coursework completed within the last five years. Reimbursement is available to teachers completing/having completed coursework in a Kansas college or university.
- Reimbursement is given only to teachers doing their instruction at a Kansas educational facility.
- Teachers benefiting from Federal Title III or Title VII awards to institutions of higher education in the State of Kansas are not eligible for additional tuition reimbursements through the KSDE program.
