|
|
Newman University's BSN program promotes the achievement of learning outcomes in liberal arts and the art and science of nursing. Students also receive the benefit of attending a private, Catholic liberal arts university that features personalized instruction, including clinical instruction in the major teaching hospitals in Wichita, and in a variety of community agencies.
One hundred and twenty-four (124) credit hours are required to obtain a BSN degree from Newman University. This includes liberal arts courses and designated pre-nursing courses and 62 credit hours in the nursing major. Classes in the nursing major begin in August and in January.
- Curriculum – Instruction in the art and science of nursing takes place in campus classrooms and laboratories. Clinical instruction in local health care agencies enhances the learning that occurs on campus.
- Faculty – A selected group of registered professional nurse educators with masters and doctorate degrees guide educational experiences in the classrooms and in the clinical portion of the curriculum.
- Classes – Theory and principles are taught in the classroom and laboratory, and this knowledge is applied in clinical settings.
- Approval and Accreditation – The BSN program is approved by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. It is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, One Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington, D.C. 20036-1120. Newman University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, a commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
