The Sonography Program Application Process  

For those people interested in applying to the Sonography Program, the following process must be completed. The deadline for returning all paperwork is June 1, 2008.

  1. Acceptance to Newman University. To apply to the University, call or write for an application packet and explain you are interested in Sonography. You may reach Newman University admissions at 316-942-4291.
  2. Apply to the Sonography program at Newman. This requires the following paperwork be received by the deadline date:
    • Completed application to the Sonography program
    • Official transcripts confirming required prerequisite education
    • Personnel essay describing yourself and why you are pursuing a career in sonography.
  3. Shortly after the deadline, if the educational criteria are met and all forms are received, you will be contacted for an interview by the Sonography selection committee. The committee is composed of instructors in the program.
  4. The selection committee will review your grades, essay, and notes made during the interview. Program selection is determined by points awarded for grades, references, and the interview.
  5. A letter of acceptance, alternate status, or denial to the program will be mailed to the applicant by July 15th.
  6. Students accepted for admission are required to confirm their intention to attend the program in writing within 10 (ten) working days.
  7. Alternates will be selected if openings occur according to numerical rank. Alternates may be admitted up to 2 weeks into the fall semester if all positions have not been filled.
  8. Once selected, the student must be able to perform the duties of a medical sonographer and physically complete clinical requirements through reasonable accommodation as needed. Please see “Performance Requirements” fact sheet.
