Application & Admission  
Individuals seeking admission to the Newman University MSW program are required to meet the following expectations:
  1. Submission of completed Graduate Admission Application [Online / Printable (PDF 514 KB)] and School of Social Work Application
  2. Submission of a $25.00 Application Fee ($40.00 for international students) non-refundable.
  3. Submission of an official transcript documenting receipt of a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university as well as an official transcript from each college where graduate credit was earned
  4. A GPA of 3.0 or higher in upper division course work
  5. Submission of three letters of recommendation on specified forms.
  6. Submission of a personal statement which includes
    1. The applicant’s individual qualifications and motivations for entering the field of social work
    2. His or her areas of special interest to include fields of practice and special populations
    3. This statement should address the applicant’s ability to collaborate with others and his or her readiness to learn in the classroom and in the field practicum
    4. The statement should be about two to three pages in length
Interviews and standardized tests (e.g., GRE or MAT) are used selectively.
