| Welcome to the College of Professional Studies!

|
The College offers associate, baccalaureate, and graduate programs in a variety of career-oriented fields including education, business, health care and social work. But even though the College’s programs cover many areas of study, all are g uided by a common set of protocols: the standards of excellence established by the professional societies and accrediting agencies that oversee your preparation for entry into their respective professions.
And, more important than that, all have a common focus: you.
At Newman, your education is much more than just learning how to make a living. At Newman, education is holistic - integrating the liberal arts, humanities, and sciences with the theory and practice in a professional field of study. At Newman, you will grow in your intellectual life, your spiritual life, your civic life, and your cultural life - all if those things that makes you a whole person.
And even your professional studies will be more than just vocational; your education should never be that ordinary. Regardless of your major, your classes should engage the mind and the spirit; they should cultivate a sense of curiosity, speculation and creativity; they should encourage you to challenge established norms and rituals under the rubric of intellectual rigor, and to examine your responsibilities to the commonweal. But none of this should be at the sacrifice of your practical preparation for your career. As crucial as the liberal arts are to what it means to be an educated person, they is not enough. In a meritocracy such as the U.S., a university graduate is expected to have a marketable portfolio of skills and knowledge to contribute to the job and to society from the first day.
An education in professional studies at Newman University teaches you to do well and do good.
