June 10 - 12, 2008
In keeping with Newman University’s mission of educating the mind and inspiring the spirit, Women Exploring Mathematics and Science (WXMS) Summer Institute is designed to motivate and encourage young women to pursue an active interest in mathematics and science.
WXMS Summer Institute is offered in response to a growing demand for professionals in mathematically related fields. Women are currently underrepresented in the fields of mathematics, science and engineering. By reducing the significant barriers that exist to the entry of women into these professions, the number of potential professionals will increase.
