Guatemala Summer 2008
GuatemalaCan you picture yourself studying abroad? Newman University is offering a great opportunity for you to gain real-life language and culture skills by studying intensive Spanish and volunteering in Guatemala for six weeks during early summer 2008.

During the program, you’ll travel with a Newman professor and a small group of students, so your support system is right there as you adapt to a new culture. During the first week, you will also have a chance to see the work of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ Dani Brought and Kris Schrader who have established schools and medical clinics near Guatemala City. At the same time, you’ll be immersed in a Spanish-speaking environment, living with your own host family and in Xela, studying at a school with adventuresome and committed students from around the world.

By studying in Guatemala, you will be able to earn 6-9 credit hours that can count toward your minor in Spanish while gaining an unforgettable international perspective and increased cultural sensitivity – an investment in your future! Reflecting on his experience in Guatemala last summer, Kyle Kisling, a senior theology major, said that, “It was probably one of the greatest experiences I’ll have at Newman.I’d never been to another country before. I feel like I know so much more about the world now.”
