Wichita, Kan. – William Peppard buried a 45-yard free kick as time expired to lift the Newman University men’s soccer team to a thrilling 2-1 victory over Texas A&M International Sunday afternoon at Wilkins Field. The win puts Newman (2-3, 2-0 HC) firmly in first place in the Heartland Conference standings.

Wichita, Kan. – The Newman University women’s soccer team out-shot Missouri Western State 13-5 but settled for a 0-0 tie Saturday night at soggy Wilkins Field. Amid misty rain and chilly temperatures, the Jets (0-2-2) kept the Griffons (1-2-1) off the scoreboard to record the team’s first shutout of the year.

Baldwin City, Kan. -- The Newman University volleyball team recorded two wins at the Baker Invitational on Friday. The Jets knocked off the host school, Baker, in four sets and later defeated Benedictine in straight sets.

Joe Gerrant scored his first goal of the year and Emmanuel Gutierrez made several acrobatic saves for Newman.

Wichita, Kan. – Newman University outside hitter Lauren Poe was named to the Las Vegas Blast All-Tournament Team Sunday. The Jets co-captain racked up a team-best 34 kills in the squad’s four games in Las Vegas.

Contributed by Sports Infromation Director Brian Petrotta Las Vegas, Nev. – The Newman University Volleyball Team continued to struggle in Las Vegas Saturday, falling in five sets to Northern State and in three sets to Bemidji State. Newman (0-4) led Northern 2-1 in the day’s first match, but was unable to close out the team’s first win of the young season.
