Joe Gerrant scored his first goal of the year and Emmanuel Gutierrez made several acrobatic saves for Newman.

Wichita, Kan. – Newman University outside hitter Lauren Poe was named to the Las Vegas Blast All-Tournament Team Sunday. The Jets co-captain racked up a team-best 34 kills in the squad’s four games in Las Vegas.

Contributed by Sports Infromation Director Brian Petrotta Las Vegas, Nev. – The Newman University Volleyball Team continued to struggle in Las Vegas Saturday, falling in five sets to Northern State and in three sets to Bemidji State. Newman (0-4) led Northern 2-1 in the day’s first match, but was unable to close out the team’s first win of the young season.

The Jets lost in straight sets to both Bemidji State and Northern State on the opening day of the Las Vegas Blast Tournament.

Contributed by Sports Information Director Brian Petrotta Today Newman University officials named Vic Trilli as Athletic Director. Trilli served in the same role at Garden City Community College since 2004 where he became the first-ever Bryce Roderick Award of Excellence winner as the top Athletic Director in NJCAA Region VI. His career also includes a stint as an assistant basketball coach at the University of Texas.
