BOWL: Jets Earn First Tourney Win

The Newman men's bowling team won the McKendree Baker Challenge this past weekend in St. Louis, Mo. The field of the tournament was stacked, with eight of out of the top twenty teams in the country represented.

WR: Bulldogs Top Jets, 23-19

The Newman wrestling team competed at Truman State this past Friday night, but lost in a close dual against the Bulldogs 23-19. Mitch Arnold picked up Newman's only pin of the dual.

MBB: Hilltoppers Edge Jets, 59-57

The Newman men's basketball dropped its third-straight game Saturday afternoon, falling 59-57 to the St. Edward's Hilltoppers at the Recreation and Convocation Center in Austin, Texas. Jaray Mathews, Terrell Northington, and Will Burdette each scored nine points to lead the Jets.

WBB: Jets Fall at SEU, 60-47

The Newman women's basketball team was unable to salvage a road split, falling 60-47 to the St. Edward's Hilltoppers Saturday afternoon at the Recreation and Convocation Center in Austin, Texas. The Jets and Hilltoppers were whistled for a combined 48 fouls, and combined to shoot 68 free throws in the contest.

MBB: Jets Drop Second Straight, 84-82

The Newman men's basketball saw a double-digit halftime lead disappear in two minutes as the Texas A&M International Dustdevils upset the Jets, 84-82, Thursday night at the Kinesiology Building in Laredo, Texas. Jaray Mathews scored 17 points to pace the Jets in their second-consecutive loss.

WBB: Dustdevils Blow Past Jets, 68-61

A turnover-filled game prevented the Newman women's basketball team from earning its second-consecutive road win as the Jets dropped a 68-61 decision to Texas A&M International Thursday evening at the Kinesiology Building in Laredo, Texas. Monique Pitts scored a career-high 17 points in a game that saw both teams combine for 52 turnovers.

WR: Jets Upset Mules, 24-21

The Newman wrestling team closed out the home portion of its dual season in style, picking up a 24-21 in over Central Missouri Wednesday night inside Fugate Gymnasium. The Mules have been ranked all season, but are receiving votes in this week's National Wrestling Coaches Association poll.

The runs kept coming for the Newman baseball team Tuesday afternoon, but unfortunately St. Edward's had answers today as the Jets dropped a wild 13-9 game to the Hilltoppers at Lucian-Hamilton Field.

BSB: Jets Open 2010 With Sweep at SEU

The Newman baseball team opened its season with a Heartland Conference sweep, defeating the St. Edward's Hilltoppers 7-6 and 8-7 Monday afternoon at Lucian-Hamilton Field in Austin, Texas. Temperatures in the mid-40's didn't phase the Jets, who opened the season with a sweep for the first time as an NCAA Div. II institution.

Blake Fisher's third place finish in 133 weight class was just one of the many highlights for the Newman wrestling team at the First Annual Kansas Cup Sunday inside Newman's Fugate Gymnasium.
