| Degree Audit Instructions (Graduation Checklist)
|
|
- Log in to JetStream
- Click on "Degree Audit"
- Click on "Degree Audit Request"
- Click on "Request Audit"
- "Audit Requested On" – will be the current date
- "Audit Run Date" – this date must be the current date also.
- If it is not, wait a few
minutes, refresh the screen (click on the Refresh button on the tool bar at the top of your screen or click on View at the top of your screen, then click on Refresh), and the current date should show.
- This particular process in JetStream is not “live.” It is set to run every five minutes to update the audit for any requests that have been made. Hence the wait.
- If you get a message that says no audit is available or if Audit Run Date does not show, wait a few minutes and refresh the screen.
- When "Audit Run Date" is the current date, click on "Show Major," "Show Totals," "Show Audit Class," "Show electives" for the information in those areas to be displayed.
- "Show Major" - lists your major(s)/minor(s)/concentration(s) (specialization)
- "Show Totals" - gives total hours, resident hours, transfer hours, upper/lower
division hours, and GPA information
- "Show Audit Class" - lists general education, major, minor, concentration
requirements (See below for more detailed explanation.)
- "Show Electives" - shows courses not used for general education, major, minor or
concentration
Show Audit Class
General education requirements, each major, each minor, and each concentration will show totals (green shading) for each area. It will also show “Requirements Met? Yes/No” on the right hand side of the screen. You can click on Show for each general education requirement and it will tell you if that particular requirement has been met. Click on “Show/Hide NeedHave” to get a list of the courses that meet the requirement and what courses, if any, have been taken to meet the requirement.
Each required course is listed after “Need:” and the grade listed on that line is the minimum grade required. If you have successfully completed the course it is listed on the line below it after “Have:” and the grade you received for the course is listed on that line.
To run a “What If” audit report*, simply select the catalog year and the major from the list in the drop down boxes and click on Request Audit. You will have to wait and refresh the screen as indicated above.
If the catalog year is the same as the one already listed for you, it isn’t necessary to enter a catalog year. This report seems not to work if we have one degree in Empower for you and the “What If” request is for a different degree. (For instance, if a student has a B.A. in Empower and wants a degree audit for a major with a B.S. degree it won’t work. That’s a glitch I hope we can soon remedy.)
*You would run a “What If” report if you want to “check out” another major and see what would be required for that major.
Hint: If you want to print a copy of the report, print it Landscape.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT WE ARE STILL IN THE TESTING PHASE WITH DEGREE AUDIT. CHECK WITH YOUR ADVISOR IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING YOUR AUDIT.
Degree Audit Disclaimer
As Degree Audit is used, please keep in mind that not every graduation requirement is reflected here. You should consult your advisor and the Newman University catalog for information on and clarification of all graduation requirements. The Newman catalog will be the standard by which students are checked for graduation requirements, not Degree Audit. Catalogs are available in the Newman University Registrar’s Office and online. To access the online catalog, click on Catalog (under Academics) on Newman’s home page.
The requirements for the Associate of Arts Degree are not in Degree Audit and the following requirements for a bachelor’s degree are not reflected in Degree Audit:
- Most Newman University programs require 62 semester hours from four-year colleges/universities
- Students who double major are restricted on the number of courses that can be used for both majors
- Nine upper division hours in the major must be resident credit
- The Liberal Studies major is not on Degree Audit
- Science General Education Requirements: both a biological and physical science course are required and one of the courses must be a lab course. BIOL3333 Bioethics cannot be used to meet both a science and a philosophy requirement.
- In addition to the courses listed in Degree Audit for the Humanities General Education Requirement, MUS2041/3041 Chorale, MUS1021 Applied Music and HUM2004 Introduction to Humanities can also meet that requirement. Only three credit hours can be performance. Check the Newman University catalog for more details.
- The upper division hours reported on the degree audit may incorrectly include hours from a junior college that are equivalent to Newman’s upper division courses.
