Newman University Awarded Full 10-year Reaccreditation from Higher Learning Commission

Newman University officials announced today that the university has received formal notification of continued regional accreditation status from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association. Newman University’s next comprehensive evaluation is scheduled for 2016-2017, with no additional reporting requirements needed until that time.

Noreen M. Carrocci Begins Tenure As Newman University President

Noreen M. Carrocci, Ph.D. began her presidential term at Newman University July 2 with several events involving the Newman community and the university’s founders the Adorers of the Blood of Christ (ASC). The day began with an 8 a.m. Mass at the ASC Regional Wichita Center, followed by a breakfast for all faculty, staff and administration members in the Mabee Dining Center. Dr. Carrocci’s first day as Newman’s 11th president also included lunch with the university executive team.

Newman University to Receive $30,000 Grant From Cox Communications

Newman University will receive a grant for $30,000 from Cox Communications in support of the school’s new Library and Campus Center. The gift will be presented at 3:30 p.m. today, at Newman University in the Heritage Room of Sacred Heart Hall.

Newman University Hosts Investigative Summer Science Program

Over the past 17 years, Newman University’s Investigative Summer Science Program (ISSP) has helped hundreds of American high school students discover the benefits of a career in science. Since 2004, the program has even extended its reach beyond America to Italy. This summer, 15 students from 10 Kansas, one Colorado and two Italian high schools attended the 2007 ISSP. For two weeks the selected high school juniors and seniors interested in science gained a unique scholarly experience.

Newman University Receives $500,000 Gift From Dugan-Gorges Family For New Conference Center

Newman University officials announced today that they have received a $500,000 gift from John E. and Marilyn K. Dugan of Wichita to help underwrite costs of a conference center that is part of the university’s new Dugan Library and Campus Center. The gift is in addition to a $2 million naming gift the Dugans made in 2006 for the new facility.
