Newman University and the Adorers of the Blood of Christ (ASC) lost a precious member of their community on Sept. 6, 2006, when Sylvia Gorges, ASC, the fifth president of Sacred Heart College, now Newman University, died at 11:30 a.m. She was 94 years old.

Newman University Hosts Nursing Clinical Teaching Institute

On Aug. 10 and 11, 2006, the Kansas Committee for Nursing Education and Practice (KNEP) sponsored a clinical teaching institute at Newman University as a response to the shortage of nursing faculty in Kansas. The institute provided an orientation to the responsibilities of clinical instruction, an integral component of nursing education.
