Newman University Announces 2007-2008 Wrestling Schedule

The Newman University Wrestling team has announced its schedule for the 2007-2008 season. Fourth-year head coach Mark Stovall announces the Newman Jets will begin the season with the annual Labette Takedown Tournament in Parsons, Kan. on Nov. 3.

Former Newman history professor to discuss 1940s genocide in Croatia Oct. 4

The 2007 History Speaker Series for Newman University will begin next week. Those attending will learn about a serious situation which occurred in the mid-1940s and how the United States reacted. The topic, “The Subject Matter Requires Punch: The United States’ Response to Genocide in the Independent State of Croatia, 1941 – 1945,” will be presented by Robert McCormick, Ph.D, assistant professor of history for the University of South Carolina Upstate. The event will be held Thursday, Oct. 4, at 7 p.m. in the Dugan-Gorges Conference Center within Newman University’s Dugan Library and Campus Center.

Newman University President Noreen Carrocci, Ph.D. has announced that university Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs B. Lee Cooper, Ph.D. will resign his position in the spring of 2008. Cooper and his wife, Jill, are leaving Newman to resettle in Asheville, N.C.
