Newman University officials announced Monday, March 12, that Noreen M. Carrocci, Ph.D. will serve as the 11th president of the institution beginning July 1, 2007. Dr. Carrocci is the fourth female president and first lay woman to hold the presidential office. A formal installation ceremony for Dr. Carrocci is planned early in the 2007-08 academic year. Catholic Charities, Newman University, Agencies Partner to Administer Program Saturday, June 09, 2007 (184 reads)
Kansas City, Kansas and Wichita Diocese have been selected to deliver a program designed to strengthen marriages and provide positive results for Kansas children. The program, Marriage for Keeps, officially began operations this week in Kansas. Newman University Honors Fall 2006 Graduates Friday, February 02, 2007 (344 reads)
The Newman University Fall 2006 Commencement ceremony was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16 in O’Shaughnessy Hall on the Newman University campus. A total of 164 students graduated, including 28 who earned associate’s degrees, 100 who earned bachelor’s degrees and 36 who earned master’s degrees. Baccalaureate Mass was held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15 in Newman’s historic St. John’s Chapel. A reception followed in the Gorges Atrium. Read More |

Newman University Hosts Investigative Summer Science Program Friday, July 06, 2007 (234 reads)
Over the past 17 years, Newman University’s Investigative Summer Science Program (ISSP) has helped hundreds of American high school students discover the benefits of a career in science. Since 2004, the program has even extended its reach beyond America to Italy. This summer, 15 students from 10 Kansas, one Colorado and two Italian high schools attended the 2007 ISSP. Newman University To Offer Elementary Education Degree Program At Seward County Community College Monday, June 25, 2007 (160 reads)
Residents of the Liberal area will soon have more options to earn a college degree thanks to an agreement recently concluded between Newman University and Seward County Community College (SCCC). According to SCCC Dean of Instruction Dr. Cynthia Rapp, Newman will begin offering courses in August 2007 at SCCC that lead to a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. Students who have completed their general education requirements at the community college, or those who already have a degree in another subject area, may qualify to enter Newman’s accelerated degree completion program. Newman University To Offer Elementary Education Degree Program In Ulysses Via Interactive Television Monday, June 25, 2007 (162 reads)
Residents of the Ulysses area will soon have a new option to earn a college degree thanks to the Newman University Distance Education Program. In August 2007, Newman will begin offering courses in Ulysses that lead to a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. All courses will be offered via interactive television at Pioneer Telephone in Ulysses. Newman University Reaches Out to Victims of Greensburg Tornado Tuesday, May 15, 2007 (178 reads)
Newman University is responding to the needs of victims of the recent tornado in Greensburg, Kan., with several initiatives. The university is establishing a relief fund for Newman alumni and their families in the area who were affected by the storm, and offering up to $100,000 in scholarships that will be allocated among as many as five graduating high school seniors interested in attending Newman. Several university faculty, staff and students are also undertaking projects including outings to Greensburg to help with the clean-up efforts. Read More |

Newman University Awarded Full 10-year Reaccreditation from Higher Learning Commission Tuesday, July 31, 2007 (241 reads)
Newman University officials announced today that the university has received formal notification of continued regional accreditation status from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association. Jet Open Golf Tournament Raises $44K To Benefit Newman University Athletics Friday, May 11, 2007 (163 reads)
The Newman University 23rd Annual Jet Open Charity Golf Tournament raised $44,442 to help support athletic scholarships, programs and facilities. The event, held April 30 at Rolling Hills Country Club, was one of the largest ever with 140 players compared to 124 at last year’s tournament, and featured prizes for top teams and individuals, and a silent and a live auction that raised more than $14,500. Newman University radiologic technology major Shannon Howerton of Douglas, Kan., finished third in the "Ray Bowl" Competition and third in the film competition that were part of the Kansas Society of Radiologic Technologists (KRST) annual meeting April 6 - 8 held in Topeka, Kan. Howerton was one of a three-student team that won 3rd place in the Ray Bowl, a competition related to knowledge of the radiologic technology field.
