History Professor Examines Women’s Relief Corps and Civil War Veterans in Kansas
Newman University Presents History Speaker Series Feb. 28
Wichita, Kan. – The 2007-08 History Speaker Series at Newman University continues with a presentation by Bruce Kahler, Ph.D. Kahler will speak on “The Women’s Relief Corps and Civil War Veterans in Kansas” at 7 p.m. on Feb. 28 in Rehearsal Hall, located on the second floor of the De Mattias Fine Arts Center on the Newman campus. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Kahler is professor of history at Bethany College in Lindsborg, where he has taught American history and art history since 1988. He is the author of many articles, book reviews and encyclopedia entries. He has also written op-ed essays for the Salina Journal. Kahler has served in a variety of administrative capacities at Bethany, including assistant academic dean and faculty representative to the Board of Directors. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the Kansas Humanities Council. Kahler received his bachelor’s degree in history from Kutztown State College in Kutztown, Pa., and his master’s and doctoral degrees in history-American studies at Purdue University.
