Wichita, Kan. – The Newman University Steckline Gallery opens it 2008-09 season with “Redefined” by local artist Jill Rumoshosky Werner. The exhibition begins with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29. The reception is free and open to the public. The show will run through Sept. 19.

Wichita, Kan. – Newman University officials have announced the hiring of Brian Petrotta as the sports information director (SID) for the Jets. Petrotta will take on the SID duties effective Aug. 1, 2008.

Wichita, Kan. – Newman University officials announced today that the institution has been removed from its provisional status and will be a full member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level. The move is effective Sept. 1, 2008 and will apply to all Newman NCAA intercollegiate competition beginning in the 2008-2009 academic year.

Wichita, Kan. – Newman University officials announced today that Head Wrestling Coach Mark Stovall has resigned to take a position with the Heartspring School in Wichita for special needs children. Newman Assistant Wrestling Coach Ryan Smith has been promoted to the head coaching position on a one-year interim basis. The change in coaching leadership is effective immediately.

Wichita, Kan. – Science professors at Newman University are known for their expertise, caring and guidance to college students preparing for careers in medicine, chemistry or other science-related fields. Over the past 18 years, many of those professors have also helped high school students discover the benefits of careers in science through the Newman University Investigative Summer Science Program (ISSP).
