Newman University Steckline Gallery presents ‘Redefined by Wichita artist Jill Rumoshosky Werner Aug. 29 – Sept. 19

Wichita, Kan. – The Newman University Steckline Gallery opens it 2008-09 season with “Redefined” by local artist Jill Rumoshosky Werner. The exhibition begins with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29. The reception is free and open to the public. The show will run through Sept. 19.

Wichita, Kan. -- The Newman University Volleyball Team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2007-08 school year. The Jets were one of only 39 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II schools recognized by AVCA.

Newman University Receives Kansas Humanities Council Grant to Help Fund 75th Anniversary Activities

Wichita, Kan. – The Kansas Humanities Council (KHC) has awarded a $13,375 grant to help fund selective areas in Newman University’s 75th Anniversary Celebration. The funds will help support a new historical exhibit called the 75th Heritage Exhibit – “Triumph of the Spirit,” and a book distribution activity called “Operation Book Drop.”

Newman University Awarded Full NCAA DII Membership

Wichita, Kan. – Newman University officials announced today that the institution has been removed from its provisional status and will be a full member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level. The move is effective Sept. 1, 2008 and will apply to all Newman NCAA intercollegiate competition beginning in the 2008-2009 academic year.

Wichita, Kan. – Newman University officials announced today that Head Wrestling Coach Mark Stovall has resigned to take a position with the Heartspring School in Wichita for special needs children. Newman Assistant Wrestling Coach Ryan Smith has been promoted to the head coaching position on a one-year interim basis. The change in coaching leadership is effective immediately.
