General contractor Simpson & Associates Construction Services recently received an “Award of Honor” for quality workmanship in the building of two campus housing projects for Newman University. Newman University students work to collect 11,000 toothbrushes for Guatemalan children Thursday, March 27, 2008 (75 reads)

Students in the Newman University “Study and Serve in Guatemala 2008” program have launched a campaign to collect 11,000 new toothbrushes by May 1 for Guatemalan children. The campaign, called Project SONRISA has thus far collected more than 5,000 toothbrushes and caught the attention and participation of others in the Newman community as well as dentists, schools and churches across the state and individuals in foreign countries. Newman University groups to sponsor 'Walk for Mobility' fundraiser April 12 Thursday, March 27, 2008 (66 reads)
Several student and alumni groups at Newman University as well as the university’s sponsoring order, the Adorers of the Blood of Christ, are joining forces to stage “Walk for Mobility ’08,” a fundraising event to benefit the Free Wheelchair Mission. Newman University is hosting a series of readings and panel presentations on how people deal with violent upheaval in their lives during the 9th Annual Newman University Literary Festival, “Godzilla Fest ‘08: Returning from Ruin: Living in the Aftermath.” The event will take place from 9 a.m. to approximately 10 p.m. April 5 and 6 in the Dugan-Gorges Conference Center inside the Dugan Library and Campus Center on the Newman campus. Those seeking employment should attend Career Fair March 27 Wednesday, March 19, 2008 (65 reads)
More than 60 area businesses will participate in a Career Fair to be held next week at Newman University. The event, hosted by Newman’s Student Support Services, will be held Thursday, March 27, from 3 to 6:30 p.m. in the Fugate Gymnasium, located in O’Shaughnessy Hall. Newman University is located at 3100 McCormick in Wichita.

Newman University Wrestling Team captures runner-up position at National Championships Monday, March 17, 2008 (65 reads)

The Newman University Wrestling Team finished its season March 15 with a runner-up finish at the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) National Championships in Lakeland, Fla. The Jets missed the No. 1 spot by only 10 points to returning national champion Grand Valley State University. Nine Newman Jets earned All-American status at the championship tournament. Read More |
