Sr. Mary Stella Rosenhamer ASC A'40

Sacred Heart Academy (1945-1967)

Mary Stella Rosenhamer, ASC, completed her earthly life the night of Nov. 3, 2010, at the Wichita Center in Wichita, KS,  She was 89.  Stella was born in Wichita and attended St. John's Academy.  She attended high school as a postulant and became an Adorers of the Blood of Christ in 1945.  Instead of attending college Stella's first assignment was to Enid, OK at St. Mary's Hospital to learn the ropes.  She attended business college classes and served in hospital work for 15 years.  Stella was reassigned to the Wichita ASC community as Provincial treasurer and then councilor from 1874 to 1982.  Her ASC community members heartily agree that her faithful and careful stewardship accomplished much.

Following  those 22 years, Sr. Stella began a full-time, 20 year ministry to Wichita's marginalized people.  She directed St. Anthony House that was renamed Center of Hope, a homelessness prevention program.  Stella retired to the Wichita Center in 2003, where she said she received wonderful care.  She enjoyed her slower pace and had more time to pray and read and attend family reunions.  She was truely grateful for God's blessings.
