    Mike Matney '77

    Kansas Newman College (1973-1998)
    Mike Matney reported in from Hurricane, WV where he is a Data Center Architect for the Pomeroy Co.  Since leaving Newman he has earned a Masters Degree from Marshall University.  He recalls Sr. Betty Adams and Sr. Xavier Lampe as the people who most influenced him as faculty in the music department.  "They guided my musical and spiritual life."  Mike and his wife, Teresa have four children.

    Sister Barb Smith, a member of the Regional Leadership Team of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ-U.S. Region, was elected to serve on the international congregation's five member General Council.  The election occurred at the Adorers' XX General Assembly, which took place July 7-31 in Mysore, India.  Early in her ministry, Sr. Barb assisted with Campus Ministry and was director of Resident Life and Student Activities at Kansas Newman College.  The past 24 years she has served as...

    Michael R. Miller '03 MSW, '07 MBA

    Michael R. Miller has been named Director of Independent and Assisted living at the Kansas Masonic Home in Wichita, KS.  He was profiled in the Wichita Eagle Business Section on August 18, 2011.  Miller and his wife, Tammy, have four children.  The family enjoys sports and attending the Kechi Playhouse.

    Serena Hanson '10

    Serena Hanson has moved to Norman, OK where she works as a social work consultant.  Serena and her husband, Justin have four children.  Congratulations on the new job!

    Jake '08 and Betty Johnston

    Jake and Betty Johnston are proud parents of a daughter, Madeline Petra who was born on 8/12/2011.  Madeline is welcomed home by a sister, Isabella.  Proud grandparents are J.V. '82 and Veronica '82 Johnston and other Aunts and Uncles are John Hagan '11, Isaac Johnston '10, Theresa Hagan '10 and Ben Johnston '06.  Congratulations!

    Norine C. Lampe SHC '62

    Norine C. Lampe died July 15, 2011.  She was born in the midst of the great depression and dust storms in Western Kansas.  She attended 12 years of Catholic schools and then received her teaching degree from Sacred Heart College in Wichita, KS.  After teaching three years in Kansas, she moved to Long Beach, CA near her oldest brother.  Norine then spent the next 40 years teaching mostly second grade in the Los Angeles school district.  She is survived by her brother...

    Shannon Kaufman MSW '11 and Sally Godbee MSW '11

    Shannon Kaufman and Sally Godbee were classmates in the Spring 2011 Master of Social Work graduating class at Newman's Colorado Springs, CO campus.  They also now share the joy of motherhood.  Hunter Kaufman was born July 26, 2011 and Grayson Godbee was born August 19, 2011.  Congratulations on two baby boys!

    Lisa Hammerschmidt '97

    Lisa Hammerschmidt has been accepted into St. Louis University's School of Public Health for graduate study in Epidemiology. Lisa relocated from Wichita to St. Louis in August.  Congratulations Lisa and best wishes in your studies!

    Bridjraj Singh '90

    Moramattie Singh, passed away on August 4, 2011 in Wichita, KS.  She was born in Guyana and came to the U.S. with her husband Bridjraj where they became the proud parents of Nalini, Trishan and Naresh as well as the doting grandparents of Ajay.  Mora earned her Masters Degree in Library Science and worked for the Wichita Public Library for over 30 years.  She was generous, hardworking and known as the best cook who loved to share her meals.  Our sympathy to the Singh family.

    Father of Dr. Steve Williamson, Bill Williamson, 82, died August 16, 2011.  He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather.  He is survived by wife, Betty; children, Steve (Marta), Dave, Mike (Joan), Tim (Deb), Randy, and Ann (Lin) Medlin.  Grandchildren are Christopher, Nicholas, Ashley, Jason, Jeremiah, Melissa, Drew, Jeff, Karen, Megan, Connor, Makenna, and 5 great-grandchildren.  Our sympathy and prayers to the Williamson family at St. Margaret...
