    Lillian Taylor A '50, SHC '59

    Sacred Heart College (1954-1972)
    Beloved College of Santa Fe professor, Lillian Taylor passed away Jan. 31, 2011.  She was a member of the Adorers of the Blood of Christ and began teaching music at Sacrd Heart Academy.  She taught speech and drama at Sacred Heart Academy from 1962-69, during which time she earned a masters degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee.  In 1970 Lillian moved to Santa Fe after requesting a dispensation from her vows.  In her 33 year career at the College of Santa Fe, she...

    George Troutt '00

    George Troutt spent 35 years teaching, coaching and mentoring students (22 of those) in Satana, KS.  Now retired, George is still active in the community as well as the Satana United Methodist Church.  He still finds time to mow lawns, golf and hunt quail and he has a standing appointment each day at his "Office" at the Happy Agers to play snooker with the guys.  Enjoy your well deserved retirement and your opportunity to spend time with your wife and family.

    Congratulations to Christine Pham and Jeff Rolfes who were recently married on the Newman University campus!  Christine is an RN at the Kansas Medical Center in Wichita.

    Congratulations to recent graduate Ashley Myers, who has moved to Salina, KS for a new job!  She will be the constituent Service Representative for Congressman Huelskamp.  Good luck Ashley!

    Kenneth M. Spain '84

    Sending our sympathy to the wife and family of Kenneth M. Spain, 61, who died March 7, 2011.  His previous occupations included teacher, coach, conselor, and registered nurse.  He most recently worked as a CRNA for the Summit Surgical Center, Hutchinson.  Kenneth was a member of AANA and a published author in his field.  He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and an avid runner.  He is survived by wife, Maggi;  four sons: Derrick, Joel, Matthew, and...

    Joan (Benoit) Hadden A '64

    Sending our sympathy to Joan (Benoit) Hadden whose Father and brother passed away recently.  Leo A. Benoit, 99 retired carpenter, died March 9, 2011 and Kenneth L. Benoit, 61 retired Air Force Master Sgt. died March 7, 2011.  Both were from Wichita, KS.

    Andrea Unrein, an '09 advertising and composing department writer for the Saline Courier's paper in Bryant, AK recently won 30 awards at the Arkansas Press Assoc. 2011 Advertising Contest.  Daily and weekly newspapers submitted 1126 entries to be judged in 22 categories.  Andrea and two co-workers entered 18 of the 22 categories where each category awarded a first, second, and third place winner.  Andrea's awards include: first, second, and third place for Most Original Idea,...

    David Bauer has received a promotion to Account Executive with Mead West Vaco.  The company is a global leader in packaging and solutions for consumer products industries.  The promotion includes a move from Winfield to Mission Hills, KS.- Kansas City area.  David and wife, Terri will be moving there shortly.  We wish you great success. 

    Rachel (Brooks) Ely '07

    Rachel Brooks married Karl Ely, Jr. on November 20, 2010.  Rachel is currently a first grade teacher at Hyde International Magnet School .  Congratulations to the newlyweds who reside in Bel Aire, KS.
