Joan (Soukup) Stadler '78

Kansas Newman College (1973-1998)
Joan Stadler, M.Ed, R.D. is serving as the Kansas Dietetic Association (KDA) President for the 2010-2011 term.  KDA is an affiliate of the American Dietetic Association, the world's largest professional association of Registered Dietitians- your food and nutrition experts.  Joan has also been serving veterans at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center since 1993 as a Clinical Dietitian.

Melissa (Sabala) Nelson '10 and David Nelson '08

Congratulations to Melissa and David Nelson who were married on February 19, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Wichita.  The couple honeymooned in Tolum, Mexico and will reside in Maize, KS.

Shannon (Brill) Rziha '99

Sending our sympathy to the family of Shannon (Brill) Rziha, who died March 5, 2011.  Please pray for her husband Wayne and three children ages 8, 6 and 3.  Shannon had been battling cancer since 2008.

Connie (Voegeli) Hotze SHC '68

Connie Hotze was recently featured in a Catholic Advance article about project "Lead the Way" which engages students in science, technology, engineering,  and math.  Connie, technology teacher at St. Joseph School, Wichita says the program challenges students at all levels.  "It's good for gifted, and good for those who struggle in school."  St. Patrick School, through a grant from Cargill, also uses the program.  Other diocesan schools are also considering the program...

Carolann (Martin) Hoppe A'66

Our sympathy is sent to Carolann (Martin) Hoppe on the death of her mother, Margaret S. Martin.  Margaret, 90, homemaker and telephone operator, entered eternal life on October 25, 2010.  She is survived by Dan (Michelle) Martin, Carolann (Gene) Hoppe, Mary Kay Martin, 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.

Linda (Hampel) Graf '70

Sending our sympathy to Linda (Hampel) Graf '70 on the death of her mother Tillie Hampel.  Mathilda "Tillie" Hampel, 87, homemaker and retired employee of the Sedgwick County Appraiser's Office, passed away December 5, 2010.  She is survived by children: Linda (Bill) Graf, Mike (Connie) Hampel, Michelle (Steve) Jahn, and Mary (Keith) Hawkins.  There are 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Marilyn Mahan Parrish A'59

Marilyn Mahan Parrish, 61, retired professor of English who taught at Newman University, was stricken suddenly by the return of Polio she had survived as a toddler and died peacefully in her sleep December 6, 2010.  She is survived by husband, Edwin; sisters Marlene and Michele, daughter Christen (Aaron) Morris.  Marilyn was a recognized scholar of James Joyce and other Irish authors, she also was the president of the Classic Books Club at Watermark Books for more than a decade, and...
