Golden, Colo. – The Newman University men’s basketball team could not overcome a rough shooting night in a 74-59 loss at the Colorado School of Mines Saturday night in the championship game of the Mines Thanksgiving Classic. Ryan Bradley put in 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting for the Jets.

Golden, Colo. – Seven Jets scored between seven and 10 points as the Newman University men’s basketball team held off Regis University 70-66 Friday night at the Colorado State School of Mines Thanksgiving Classic. Jaray Mathews turned in team highs of 10 points and eight rebounds along with two blocked shots to help lift the Jets (3-2).

Wichita, Kan. – Jarvis Jackson hit two huge threes in double overtime and Ryan Bradley poured in 30 points with 15 rebounds as the Newman University men’s basketball team sweated out a 103-92 victory over Sterling College Tuesday night at Fugate Gymnasium.

Wichita, Kan. – The Newman University men’s basketball team held Emporia State to 3-for-20 shooting from three-point range but the Hornets pulled out a 65-60 victory over the Jets Saturday night at Fugate Gymnasium. A Homecoming crowd of 922 nearly willed Newman to victory.

Joplin, Mo. – The Newman University men’s basketball team began the 2008-09 season on the road and came up short in a, 87-64 defeat at Missouri Southern Saturday night. Sammie Fisher (Wichita, Kan.) scored 17 points off the bench for the Jets.

Wichita, Kan. – A balanced scoring attack and a never-say-die spirit lifted the Newman University men’s basketball team to a 70-65 exhibition victory over Southern Nazarene Tuesday night at Fugate Gymnasium. The Jets did not take their first lead until freshman Jake Darby hit a jumper with just over five minutes remaining.

Wichita, Kan. – Home games against Emporia State and Fort Hays State highlight the 2008-09 Newman University men’s basketball schedule. The Jets begin the season at Missouri Southern on November 15 and play their home opener on the 18th against Bethel College.
