Dual Advising Program

Entrance to Newman University

Purpose

The purpose of this Dual Advising Program is to provide the opportunity for students enrolled in their first year of community college to access academic advising with Newman advisors in preparation for their plans to transfer to Newman to complete their 4-year degree. The goal of the program is to provide a seamless transition for students transferring from partner schools by providing support up to a year before students set foot on campus as a Newman student.

 Process

Apply Now for Dual Advising

Students interested in the Newman University Dual Advising Program must complete the following process:

  • Students must be enrolled at any one of the community colleges in Kansas
  • Students should complete the Dual Advising application one or two semesters prior to the semester they intend to enroll at Newman. Students may complete the Dual Advising application prior to applying for admission to Newman University, however participation in the Dual Advising program does not guarantee admission to the university. A separate application will be required when students are ready to transfer. 
     

Eligibility

Students must meet the following eligibility requirements for admission to the Dual Admission Program:

  • Students with fewer than 24 transferable college credits must have the following:
    • High School GPA higher of 2.0 or higher
    • ACT Composite greater than 18
    • Cumulative College GPA of 2.0 or higher
  • Students with more than 24 transferable college credits must have the following:
    • Cumulative College GPA of 2.0 or higher

 Benefits

Students who participate in the Newman University Dual Advising Program will receive the following program benefits:

  • Students will receive academic advising from Newman adivors in addition to their community college advisors while still enrolled in community college. This advising will provide support to ensure that students are taking transferable courses and courses that will keep them on track to finish their bachelors degree in 2 years at Newman. 
  • Students who ultimately apply and are admitted to Newman Univeristy who participated in the Dual Advising Program will receive a Dual Advising Scholarship of $3000.00 per academic year. Some scholarship stacking limitations may apply.
