Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
This role will provide engineering and operational support for system operations and will be responsible for the following duties as outlined:
• Maintain system models and databases, uses multiple computer platforms and analysis software.
• Enhance, monitor and maintain Energy Management System features, operator tools, operator displays, Human Performance Improvement programs and training simulator programs.
• Create and update operating guides, directives, policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective operations.
• Coordinate operation and availability of company operated generation with effected departments, the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) Reliability Coordinator and the SPP Market Operator including participation with various SPP Working Groups or Task Forces.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with NERC certified system operators, field personnel, power plant personnel and energy trading personnel to optimize transmission operations, generation operations and fuel cost.
• Develop a thorough understanding of Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) market rules including bidding, congestion, settlements and market monitor functions.
• Coordinate with trading personnel regarding energy transactions, wholesale customers and unit status strategies for participation in RTO markets.
• Track, review and improve generation operations performance related to market monitor requirements.
• Support the Operations Training Coordinator to develop, implement and administer training programs related to Generation and Transmission System Operations.
• Administer NERC Standard and SPP Criteria grid reliability training including system operator (TSO & GSO) Job Task Analysis, NERC Certification testing preparation and NERC Certification CEH planning and providing job related instruction.

Education, Experience and Skill Requirements:
The preferred candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred) and will have related experience in utility resource planning, generation asset management and demonstrate proficiency and comprehensive knowledge of power plant systems, operation and maintenance, generation system operations and dispatching requirements. Knowledge of NERC and SPP reliability and compliance requirements related to System Operations also preferred. The appropriate combination of education and experience may be considered for this role, from entry level to experienced candidates.
Candidates should also possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities for further consideration:
• Strong organizational skills and strong oral and written communication skills.
• The ability to evaluate priorities and risks to coordinate activities to minimize cost and maximize reliability.

I am a single dad (widower) with two darling twin girls, age 6 (they turn 7 in September). Their mom just recently and suddenly passed away. I have this summer covered, but I am looking to find full-time nanny that would start working for my family the beginning of 2013 school year. The girls will be starting 1st grade this fall. I would love to potentially find someone that could be with us for several years. A long term commitment is not a requirement but, is something that I’m hoping to find for my children so that they may have a stable caregiver.
One of my children is very energetic, sweet-natured girl who keeps busy with Daisy Girl Scouts, YMCA swimming & dance. Her twin sister has “mild” cerebral palsy that impairs motor skills and has delayed speech development, but is cognitively a typical young child, but is behind in developmental age appropriation. The CP impacts her right side and requires her to use pediatric wheelchair to get around, but she has a smile & giggle that could light up the world and is very contagious.
I am wanting a live-in nanny based on occasional work travel schedule, however, I would consider live-out if hours are able to be coordinated, with possibility of staying over when I am required to business travel. Our home has a fully finished basement with spare bedroom, full bathroom and even kitchenette/bar area with refrigerator & dishwasher; the childcare giver would basically have the own “studio” apartment. Additionally, we have pool and play set in back yard, so you do not have to go far to keep the girls busy or relax by yourself during your free time (if live-in). A live in caregiver would not be required to be on call 24 hours a day, rather the caregiver would need to be available on an as needed bases to be determined on a monthly bases.
I am looking for a young adult to fulfill this position, to keep up with the busyness of the girl’s activities. I am willing to consider a caregiver that is young at heart and able to keep up with their schedules then. Grandma & Grandpa do live here in Wichita and are available as back-up support, to assist if needed. I would like either someone already in or going into, the medical, special education, or therapy field as their experience working with special needs children will greatly benefit my children’s well being. If you have other experience working with kids with CP then I would consider this caregiver for the position if you are the right match.
Most importantly, I am looking for someone dependable and someone to be a role model. My wish is to find a person who will ensure that my children are well taken care of when I am not there, a person that I can hold accountable to maintain their schedules to include chores and therapies. The girls are at that age where they are learning life’s building blocks and want to make sure that I raise them as their mother would have wanted me to.
The caregiver will need to get them up ready in morning and off to school (they ride the bus), perform light chores around the house (including; minimal picking up, occasional dishes, & doing/putting away laundry) as needed. This person will have the bulk of the day to attend classes & study or even to run your own errands if need be. In addition to room & board, I would also provide use of Toyota Sienna Mini-Van to go to class & run errands for the right person (i.e you can pass MVR check). I will be initiating a back-ground check to include driving record, child care safety registry, and speaking to multiple references. The willingness to obtain CPR and First Aid training is required; however, I will cover the cost of obtaining these certificates. These little girls are now my life and I want to have someone in theirs that will grow to feel the same.
The schedule for this position is, Monday morning (early), through Friday (evening). Working on week-ends is not required, but are welcomed to join us during our normal family week-end activities if you wished. Also, we love to travel and do so frequently, so you would get offered to go with us anytime you wished and enjoy vacationing.
P.S. We do have a wonderful dog, named Molly. She is a Goldendoodle (cross-breed/hybrid dog obtained by breeding a golden retriever with a poodle). Very hypoallergenic and pretty well behaved. We have fenced yard, but she still loves taking walks if you are into that. Preference given to those who love reading to kids. Bonus points if you’re interested in music or the dramatic arts. Arts and crafts lovers are strongly encouraged to apply!

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will report to the Director, Retail Rates and will be responsible for the company’s revenue requirements function and activities involving the analysis of electric rates. The successful applicant will help ensure all filings are in compliance the Kansas Corporation Commission’s Rules and Regulation. In addition, this position will participate and/or take a lead role (depending on experience) in all functions assigned to Regulatory Affairs. These functions include:
• Retail (KCC) docket filings, testimony development and support,
• Sponsor testimony on selected issues to regulatory bodies (depending on experience)
• Revenue requirements analysis and modeling,
• Rate Design and interpretation of tariffs, and
• Quarterly and monthly calculation for the fuel clauses (including annual true-up).
Job responsibilities are successfully completed through interaction with all Westar departments, all levels within those departments and regulatory staff. Extensive use of advanced technical skills and the ability to communicate and negotiate with external constituencies (e.g. customers, regulators, etc.) is also required. A wide degree of creativity and sound judgment is expected.
Education and Experience Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field is required. Prefer MBA, CPA, or other related advanced degree/certification. The successful candidate must have broad based experience in an electric utility providing a solid understanding of the functions, issues and key processes associated with electric generation, transmission and distribution, regulation and the regulatory process, and utility-based accounting and finance.

With minimal supervision, this position is responsible for all aspects of transmission right of way activities including safety and environmental compliance, appraisals, negotiations, acquisitions, relocations, right-of-way descriptions, construction liaison, damage settlement and overseeing a team to complete transmission right of way projects in the southern regions of KS. This position is for a leader in Real Estate Services who must demonstrate initiative, influence and decisiveness.
Regular duties include:
• Oversee contract ROW project supervisors and other contract ROW personnel for private or public acquisition of easements, route development, due diligence, condemnation, construction support and damage settlement for all new or rebuilt transmission construction projects.
• Generate periodic progress reports outlining cost, timing, and overall project status related to the scope of the project. Participate in multi-discipline team scheduling and cost outlook meetings providing this information in a concise and competent manner.
• Represent Company at public meetings, regulatory hearings, presentations and condemnation hearings.
• Drive continuous process review and improvement.
Education and Experience Requirements:
The preferred candidate will have a Bachelors degree including course work in real estate law, appraisal, negotiation, engineering, communications or related topics. At least 5 years right-of-way acquisition field experience and experience managing right-of-way projects is preferred. The preferred candidate will have experience coordinating the activities of multiple work groups and electric transmission acquisition.

• In-depth knowledge of turnkey project management, from initial activities such as line routing and ownership research through negotiations, acquisition, relocation, construction, damage settlement, condemnation. Specific knowledge about the various survey systems used to write land legal descriptions, land title research, the legal documents required to complete a right of way project is preferred.
