Coming into the season I had no idea what to expect. I had never played college basketball before, I didn’t know most of the girls, and I also had to prepare for my academic life in college. To say the least I was a little bit nervous. Then the team went on a retreat, in Oklahoma, to get to know each other and I realized that it was not going to be so bad.

As you all know, the kick-off to 2008 is also the start of our conference season. Although preseason rendered an extremely tough schedule, it is beginning to pay off. I put so much pressure on myself at the beginning of the season to succeed and become a better basketball player. Even though I have to sit out this season due to academic reasons, I am still a part of the team.

Having only one win at the half way point in the season is not an ideal situation for any team. It is embarrassing, frustrating, and tends to become hopeless at times. It's what you do though at that halfway point that determines whether you will fall apart as a team and start placing blame and butting heads or if you will come together and do something about being fed-up with all the losses and disappointment. I think that our team is now at that breaking point.

When asked to write the first player journal, I was not exactly sure what you would like to read about and know. Then it came to me, you might be curious just what goes through a basketball player's mind throughout practice...
