A harsh north wind and cool temperatures hampered scores across the board at the Newman Fall Invitational, which concluded Tuesday at Auburn Hills Golf Course in Wichita. Ed Herzog led Newman to a runner-up finish in the event.

Jets Open Second at Newman Fall Invite

The Newman men's golf team opened in second place after the first round of the Newman Fall Invitational, which began Monday at Auburn Hills Golf Club in Wichita. Ed Herzog is tied for the lead in the match, overcoming cool and windy conditions to shoot a 73 (+1) in Monday's opening round.

Jets Finish Fourth at St. Mary's

Ed Herzog fired a 69 (-3) in the final round, and led the Newman men's golf team to a fourth-placed finish at the Bruce Williams Invitational, which concluded Tuesday at The Dominion Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas.

Men's Golf Finishes Fifth at Cameron

The Newman men's golf team shaved two strokes off their team score in the final round, but dropped one spot, finishing fifth at The Territory Classic, which concluded Tuesday at The Territory Golf Club in Duncan Okla. Noah Smithson led the Jets, finishing tied for ninth with a four-over score of 146.

Wichita, Kan. -- The Newman Invitational men's golf tournament has been cancelled due to the lingering effects of the weekend winter storm. Due to various scheduling conflicts among the participants, the tournament will not be made up.

Rome, Ga. – The Newman University men’s golf team finished tied for eighth in the 21-team Rome News-Tribune Invitational, hosted by Berry College. Noah Smithson placed sixth in the individual race, missing a top-five finish and inclusion on the All-Tournament Team by one stroke.

Austin, Texas – The Newman University men’s golf team placed 10th at the St. Edward’s Invitational, held Monday and Tuesday in Austin, Texas. Noah Smithson paced the Jets with a three-round total 229 to tie for 12th.

Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Newman University men’s golf team kicked off the 2009 spring season with a 7th place finish at the highly competitive Coker College Spring Invitational. Nick May, Noah Smithson, Ed Herzog, and Josh Russell each recorded Top 25 finishes for the Jets.
