Wichita, Kan. -- Newman University senior Kari Dillon was named the Heartland Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week for April 20-26. She is the first Jet to win the honor since Newman joined the Heartland Conference last year.

Seniors Shine in Season Finale

Wichita, Kan. – Kari Dillon and Michaela Langley ended their Newman University softball careers in a doubleheader with Lincoln University Saturday afternoon. Dillon drove in the game-winning run and earned the victory in the first game, while Langley contributed two hits and ended the year as Newman’s leading hitter.

Dillon Leads Jets to Split

Wichita, Kan. – Newman University junior Kari Dillon pitched a 1-0 shutout for her first win of the year as the Jets earned a split with Lincoln University in a doubleheader Friday afternoon. Dillon also cracked a grand slam home run in the first game, though the Jets fell short in extra innings, 10-8.

Sunday Softball Rained Out

Emporia, Kan. – Emporia State starter threw a perfect game in Tuesday’s doubleheader opener and the Hornets swept the Jets 9-0 and 9-2 at the Trusler Sports Complex.

Wichita, Kan. – The Newman University softball team received two solid efforts from its starting pitchers but the hurlers for Fort Hays State were a touch better Wednesday night as the Tigers topped the Jets 4-0 and 2-1 at Newman.

Wichita, Kan. – Pittsburg State used a prolific offense to take both ends of Tuesday’s softball doubleheader at Newman University. The Gorillas shut out Newman 15-0 in the first game and held off the Jets 15-8 in the second.

Goodwell, Okla. – The Newman University softball team registered another road win, taking the first game of Monday’s doubleheader, 8-7, at Oklahoma Panhandle State. Freshman Kayla Vosberg’s 1-out, 2-run triple keyed a 3-run sixth to lift Newman past the Aggies.

Goodwell, Okla. -- Sunday's doubleheader at Oklahoma Panhandle State was suspended due to high winds. The Jets were trailing 3-2 in the first inning when the umpires halted play. The games will be made up on Monday, beginning at 2 p.m.

Goodwell, Okla. – The Newman University softball team broke through with its first win of the year, an 8-5 victory in the first game of a doubleheader at Oklahoma Panhandle State Saturday afternoon. The home team Aggies bounced back to defeat the Jets 6-4 in the second game. Jennifer Stasiewicz led Newman with six hits between the two games.

Wichita, Kan. – The Newman University softball game scheduled today at Pittsburg State has been postponed due to rain. A make-up date will be announced at a later time. Additionally, this weekend’s home games against Texas – Permian Basin have been moved to Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m., while Sunday’s starts at 12 noon.

San Antonio, Texas – The Newman University softball team kicked off Heartland Conference play but continued to look for their first win of the year after St. Mary’s took all four games in San Antonio this weekend. Kari Dillon batted .455 with a home run and five RBIs in the series for Newman.

Durant, Okla. – The Newman University softball team fell to 0-4 after a pair of losses Saturday at the Southeastern Oklahoma University Softball Tournament. The Jets fell to the host school, ranked No. 8 in the country, 2-1 in the morning game and dropped an 8-0 decision to Emporia State in the afternoon contest.

Durant, Okla. – The Newman University softball team kicked off the 2009 season with two games at a tournament hosted by Southeastern Oklahoma State University Friday afternoon. The Jets dropped a squeaker to Ft. Hays State, 1-0, when the Tigers scored a run with two outs in the bottom of the seventh and later fell 13-1 to Pittsburg State.
