Wichita, Kan. – Newman University’s Juraj Surovy was named as an At-Large member of the All-Heartland Conference Men’s Tennis Team.

San Antonio, Texas – The nationally-ranked St. Edward’s men’s tennis team knocked off Newman University in the opening round of the Heartland Conference Championship over the weekend. The Hilltoppers went on to win the conference championship and currently reside as the 3rd-ranked team in the region.

Wichita, Kan. – The Newman University men’s tennis team claimed its first win since March 3 with a 6-3 victory over Oklahoma Wesleyan Friday afternoon at the Riverside Tennis Center. The Jets won both doubles matches and four of five singles matches.

Jets Struggle at ITA Championships

The Newman University men’s tennis team struggled at the 2008 Wilson/ITA Regional Championships, hosted by Northwest Missouri State. Juraj Surovy nearly pulled off an upset of the host school’s Felipe Gennari before falling in a tiebreaker.

Surovy/Fox Lead Jets at Bethany

Salina, Kan. – Juraj Surovy and Regis Fox claimed the Flight “B” championship at the Bethany Invitational this weekend. It was the second fall competition for the Newman University men’s tennis team.

Jets Begin Fall Season in Iowa

Waterloo, Iowa – The Newman University men’s tennis team began the 2008 Fall season at the Upper Iowa Challenge over the weekend. Kevin Klien won all three of his singles matches to lead the Jets.
