Three members of the Newman University Volleyball Team were among 21 student-athletes selected by Heartland Conference head volleyball coaches to be members of the 2007-08 All-Heartland Conference Volleyball Team.

The '07 volleyball squad took time out before their last road trip to visit young patients on Halloween at St. Francis Hospital. Goodies were handed out to those who were well enough to have visitors, and more were left to give to the children at a later time.

The Newman University volleyball team (5-30, 5-7 Heartland Conference) saw its three-match winning streak snapped by Fort Hays State (16-16, 2-10 MIAA) in a non-conference tilt Tuesday night. Jessica Hohn hit .288 for the match and led the Jets with 20 kills in the four-game defeat (28-30, 30-28, 21-30, 22-30).

The Jets played a double-header in Goodwell, Okla. and picked up two wins agains Oklahoma Panhandle State University. The first match was won in 3 games, as the second match took all 5 games.

The Lady Jets picked up a strong win in Dallas, taking care of business in three straight games within one hour's time. Jessica Hohn was on fire at the net, with a match high 19 kills.

The Newman University volleyball team (2-27, 2-6 Heartland Conf.) celebrated Senior Day but the St. Mary’s Rattlers (11-10, 6-3 Heartland Conf.) outlasted the Jets in five games (27-30, 30-18, 30-23, 26-30, 15-12) Saturday afternoon.

The Newman University Volleyball team hung around with the Heartland Conference’s top team, the University of Incarnate Word, but the Cardinals (15-7, 7-1 Heartland Conference) eventually got the best of the Jets (2-25, 2-5) in four games (30-25, 30-27, 30-32, 33-31).

The JV squad started the day with an exciting win over Neosho County by making an incredible come-back in the first game.  Down 24-29, the Jets broke their game point by scoring the next 5 points; then rallying back and forth until the game was finally won at 41-39.

The Lady Jets Volleyball team took Incarnate Word to 5 games before falling after a tough battle.  Outside hitters Abbra Tallman and Jessica Hohn made a big impact with kills, while middle Renee Breckenridge added blocks, kills, and digs.

Senior outside hitter Jessica Hohn caught the eye of coaches as she receives All-Tournament honors once again.  After leading in stats for the Jets in four grueling matches at Missouri Western on August 31-September 1, Hohn was honored as one of eight athletes chosen to represent the all-tournament team.
