Tutoring Center

    Students Helping Students

The Tutoring Center offers free tutoring services to Newman students seeking help with their studies. We primarily assist students with mathematics, chemistry and writing. However, we are happy to help you find a peer tutor for any number of other subjects offered at Newman. Peer tutors are Newman students who are currently taking courses, so they have an immediate understanding of the material.

    Mission

Our goal is to provide a supportive environment for students to improve their ability to understand the content and skills necessary for success in their courses. Instead of doing the homework for the student or just correcting errors, tutors engage in a dialogue with the student about the processes for learning new material and producing evidence of that learning for the teacher in the form of homework, papers and exams. In other words, we help the student become stronger, more confident, independent learners.

If you're a student seeking academic assistance, a student seeking to help tutor others, or a faculty member with concerns about the work of a student, the Tutoring Center is the place to start.
